I have an ever growing portfolio of Nature and Wild Bird images collected over the last couple of years. It is more or less a hobby at this point, although I have gotten several images published in contest winning books and several of the local newspapers. This site is to show those images to anyone who wants to look at them. Some of them are pretty good, if I do say so myself. I love the birds and I love taking pictures of them and sharing them. Many of them are funny and tell stories or show unusual behavior by the birds that are around us all the time.

Quite a few of these shots were taken right in my own back yard. I have set up feeders and positioned perching sticks in advantageous spots so that I can shoot right from my window, into the yard. It's like an outdoor studio where the models come and go as they please yet I can have some control over where they appear on the stage, For the most part, lighting is natural, although I occasionally use flash to fill in shadows when the sun is wrong or non existant. And as anyone who lives in La Crosse can tell you, is about half the time.

Some shots, like the Eagles, were taken either on Pettibone Island or right downtown La Crosse at the River Walk in Riverside Park. Others were taken on Goose Island Park. Many of the Woodpeckers were photographed there, especially the ones eating out of my hand. I haven't gotten my yard Downy's that tame yet. But I'm working on it. :o)
